A few pictures that Sissy has posted since school has started. I've said it once, and I'll say it forever .. I am so thankful that the girls have such a fun, safe, loving place to spend their days. I'll forever be grateful for Sissy's House!
These are from the first day of school..
Painting Day -- this makes me think of Lila and how she knew the color red when she first started at Sissy's.
I can hardly believe that this sweet baby is already 4 months old! I swear time goes faster with each baby. I usually take these pictures in the mornings (before we leave for school if it's a school day). Mainly because she is usually happier -- not grumpy -- just fresher. We were scrambling this morning to get them made, but we got it done. I had the help of the big girls to get smiles and coos from her. I was looking through the pictures to decide which one to post, and I just couldn't decide. Her face in each picture is so unique and so Ivey.
Here are a few things about my girl:
1. I would say the biggest thing with her this month is her happiness. When she smiles, she smiles with her whole body. It just radiates throughout her. She is such a sweet baby. Unless she's gassy, hungry, or sleepy, she's generally very laid back (haha..I'm laughing at this..what baby isn't!).
2. She's traveled all over -- we've been camping this past month and made a trip to Guntersville. She's getting better about traveling in the car -- we're working on it!
3. She's on five (3 6 oz., 1 5 oz., and 1 7 oz.) bottles a day of only formula. I finally broke down and gave up breastfeeding completely. I so enjoyed nursing her -- truly wonderful bonding time, but with work and our crazy schedule during the school year, it was just not the ideal situation. I miss it terribly, but she likes a bottle just fine. I'll be ok. ;-)
4. She had been sleeping so well -- 9 to 10 hour stretches. Around the time I quit nursing though, she quit sleeping so well. She's waking up anywhere between 1 to 5 times a night -- not necessarily to eat -- we were playing the pop the pacifier game. I was tired, she was tired. Last night she finally slept again, so I'm hoping that we are back on track. I played around with her bottles to put a little more in the nighttime one, and I'm hoping that it helps.
5. She's an official Sissy baby now. She seems to be hanging with our schedule pretty well, and has adjusted to being at Sissy's house through the day.
6. She's rolling over from back to tummy now ... all the time! I think that might have something to do with her sleeping too. I think she might be waking herself up. Once she gets on her tummy, she doesn't know how to get back to her back.
7. She's found her hands -- she loves to chew on her fingers and fist. She looks at her hands a lot. She likes to hold your hand or finger if you put it to where she can grab it.
8. She's laying on her playmat better and grabbing at toys. She's definitely learning to play. She's also learning to giggle! She's attached to her lovie and does like to take a pacifier.
9. She loves these sisters of hers. She laughs and smiles and watches them all the time. I think they're pretty smitten with her too. Clare likes to mess with her more -- messes with her head and face. Lila is definitely more like a little mommy. She wants to feed, hold, and help out with things that have to do with Ivey.
I sure do love these three girls. The good Lord has surely blessed me!
we found out that we were expecting this little bundle of joy. Finding out we were pregnant with Ivey was an answered prayer that came after a really hard month. I am incredibly thankful for this baby girl.
Casey and I took the big girls to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to see "The Little Mermaid" this past Saturday. This was our first time there, and it did not disappoint! The acting, the costumes, the singing -- it was all wonderful! Two and a half hours were gone before we knew it. We are really looking forward to another opportunity to see a play there.
This big girl had a great first day! Josh took her to school this morning and said she was just about giddy walking into school. She said she loved her teacher, and she was excited that she got on pink and got a gem on her first day. I am so thankful that she had such a great day. Love this little girl, and I am so proud of her!!
Lila and Mrs. Letourneau
So excited to spend the school year with one of her best buddies, Emory.
We spent a fun weekend in Guntersville with my dad's side of the family. Casey and I haven't ever spent much time with my cousins on that side, and we had a really great time visiting. The girls had some cousins there that they'd never met, and they had a blast swimming and playing on the playground. We've decided to make this an annual event, and I couldn't be more thrilled. We are looking forward to next year for sure!
The first cousins
The girls and their cousins, Jake, Jackson, and Mackenzie.
On Sunday, we went the 110th annual Wright reunion. I've been going to this reunion since I was a little girl, and I'm proud that I now get to take my girls to it.
The Homer Braswell/Irene Wright Family
Our family
My dad and Aunt Cat, and their surviving first cousins that were there.
We got to visit with Aunt Cat before we headed home.
The girls loved the big dogs, Astro and Henry. Astro was as tall as Lila!!
