So, how about an update on these sweet girls?? Blog posts have been few and far between, and I apologize for that...we stay busy, but it's mainly with everyday normal activities. They definitely are keeping us on our toes though! Life with them is full and fun, but it's not without moments that make ya wanna take long, deep breaths. Here goes an update...
Let's start with my Lilabug shall we??
She is loving preschool...I mean loving.it. She is enjoying all of her new friends, which I'm so thankful for! One of her biggest worries when she started was how she was going to make new friends. Interestingly enough, most of her friends seem to be little boys. They took their first field trip to the fire station earlier this month. She was super excited. Her class heads to the pumpkin patch later in October, and I'm hoping I get to go. I'm getting a lot of "why don't you ______ like all the other mommies??" Well, hun, because I work :-(. Hope to be able to participate in something!
We have some great people transporting her back and forth for us, and I will be forever grateful for them! Her teachers at school are very complimentary, and I'm so thankful that Lila has such a great love for learning. She's determined in the best way, and is constantly trying to find words that begin with the letter they are studying or to find colors and shapes that they are talking about. She had show and tell not too long ago, and had to bring something that started with the letter F. Josh and I tried to help but she wasn't satisfied until she came up with her own object -- a fairy.
She is also my DIVA.
I did not know that a 4 year old could care so much about such prissy stuff! She constantly wants to play in my make-up. She's EXTREMELY particular about her clothes. She's not too flexible on that at all. In fact, we have a chart going where she gets a happy face for every morning that she gets dressed without whining. Yes. It is necessary. She still won't wear buttons. Could've sworn that she would've grown out of that one, but it's been 2 years. Think that's around to stay.
She's a very intuitive child. She pays close attention to details. She's a worrier and a thinker. She's so much like me it's scary.
And then there's Clare Anne.
This kid is the polar opposite of her sister. She's smart -- she talks SO well. It's quite easy to have a full conversation with her. She talks and sings all.the.time. She is so funny. and I mean funny.
Note: When she ran into the kitchen wearing her POTTY SEAT, she was yelling "YEEHAW MOMMY, I'M A COWBOY!"
Which brings me to potty-training and the issues we're having with that. She did so well at first, but since school has started she seems to be regressing at home, which is so frustrating. It's quite possible that it's us, but I clean up quite a few accidents each weekend. She seems to think it's funny, which is all the more frustrating.
She has started taking pride in work that she does -- her coloring sheets, her work from school. She knows that her name starts with a "C," but that's about as far as we've gotten with letters. She asks lots of questions and is very independent. Everything we start to do is followed by "Let my do it, Mama."
This kiddo has my heart. I'm not sure how something so funny with so much personality belongs to me, but I could literally eat her up.
