Swingin' Away

A big thanks to Josh, Pop and Uncle Brian for putting together Lila's swing set yesterday!

She was excited to show us she could slide and swing! We had one happy girl on our hands!

Hard-Headed Lady

This would be the picture of a hard-headed lady who likes to fight bedtime. We give her the option of rocking for a few minutes, but she begs and pleads and tosses around trying to put off the inevitable. All week it's been: "Lila, I'm going to count to 3 and if you don't settle down, you're going to bed." All week, there's been no rocking and her going straight to bed ... standing at the gate crying. She takes all the books in her room and throws them over the gate, so I have a nice pile of books to pick up. It's like she's saying nanny-nanny-boo-boo. Went down the hall to check on her tonight ... this is what I found. Bless her bones ... she put herself to sleep alright.

Ahh, Spring :)

Loving this time of the year ... minus the pollen and the TERRIBLE allergies inflicted upon me. :) Last night, we enjoyed an evening of hanging out with the family. The highlight of Lila's evening ... the many, many pieces of watermelon she devoured! She was quick to tell you if you picked up a piece -- "Eat the red, Mommy, not the geen." Lila and Raleigh were a hot mess after eating all that juicy fruit!

Headed to church this morning and was glad to pull out the spring dresses and shoes. Our yard is full of blooms and bright colors ... it's so pretty this time of year!

Look, Mommy!!

Lila was playing on her little doodler this afternoon, and all the sudden I heard "Look Mommy! An L!" I was quite proud ... she talks about several letters a lot, but this is really the first time she's written the right letter for the one she's saying. Smart girl, I tell ya! ;-)

Sweet Visit

We headed to Madison this weekend for a visit and the weekend flew by!! We stayed busy and so enjoyed hanging out with Grammy, Papa, Casey, and some of Lila's favorite dogs.
On our way back to Opelika this afternoon, we stopped in Birmingham to visit my cousin and her new sweet little girl, Chaney. Chaney is nearly two weeks old, and it was an adjustment holding such a tiny little baby again. Josh said he was going to have to relearn what to do with a newborn! Lila was so excited about meeting "Chwaney," but was a little unsure of her once we got to their house ... her bashfulness set in. We're so glad that we got the chance to stop in and meet this sweet addition to the cousins on my mom's side. We don't get to see each other much, but I'm glad to know Clare will have a little cousin just her age to play with. Another neat thing is that the girls are named for their maternal great-grandparents -- Chaney is for my grandmother and Clare is for my grandfather. So glad for our visit today!!
