Lila's had a a big year this year ... mainly, starting kindergarten. She really enjoys school ... loves her teacher ... her friends ... really likes going to Extended Day in the afternoon (for which I'm thankful). She's in her teacher's "green" group, which is the upper reading group. She went from knowing just a few words and not really knowing how to sound out and blend words to reading like a champ. We have weekly homework. Most nights we have to time her on high frequency words, and then we have other homework sprinkled in. She normally has to read a little leveled reader book and do some reader response sheets with it. Some nights it feels like a lot .. especially for kindergarten, but she's learning, and I'm thankful for the push it gives her. She's also doing really well with her math, and I catch her doing some little math things here and there. I haven't pushed much at all ... I'm confident in her abilities ... she's doing great in school and it'll all come as it needs to.
She's lost two teeth -- the two on the bottom, and the adult ones are pretty much in. They have come in pretty good -- you hardly notice them. No more loose teeth at the moment, and I'm okay with that. :)
Clare and Lila get along so well. They are such great little friends, and Lila really looks after her little sister -- she's really encouraging. Clare is a real pain to dress some morning, but Lila can usually go in and talk her into wearing something ... she's very calm and motherly about it. I foresee Lila being a really huge help when the baby arrives in April.
We've had to deal with a few "school" behaviors that have been picked up since August ... mainly some growniness and sassiness. She's trying to find her way, I know, but this little transitional time (like most, I'm sure) is not easy. I'm constantly in prayer that we are doing what is needed for her as parents.
She's extremely sensitive. She can cry easily. She's very much a rule follower (especially at school -- at home, we're having to work on that a bit). She's helpful. She loves tickle time with her daddy -- it has to be one of her favorite things ever. In the end, it boils down to the fact that she's such a girl ... and I mean, a girl.
We love you, Lila Wilson, and we couldn't be more proud of the little lady that you are becoming! You are our heart...forever and ever!
