The Dog

I walked into the kitchen a few minutes ago after posting my last blog. I was headed in there to clean up, and this is what I found. Looks like Rudy took care of that for me! The dog is a mess...

Lila's New Friend

Our dear friends, Brian and Julie, had that little precious bundle on Friday.
Emory Rose is Lila's new and dear friend.
We can't wait for many years of giggles and laughs and drama I'm sure!!

A Weekend in Madison

Lila had a couple of firsts this weekend. She took her first road trip to Madison to visit my parents and sister. We went to celebrate my sister's birthday ... Happy Birthday Casey! We enjoyed hanging out with family on Saturday. My cousin Sarah's kids, Thomas and Emma, loved Baby Lila. Emma sang songs to her, held her, and read her a book. It was absolutely priceless. Thomas just looked at her all day.
These are a few pictures from our day.
Casey on her birthday present -- a new bike.
Emma holding Lila. She kept giving her little kisses and told to her to calm her down when she started crying. It was so sweet!

Lila also made her first trip to church. She looked very pretty in the outfit that her granny gave her.
She did great! She slept all through the morning service, and while she was awake during the night service, she didn't make a peep. She just looked and listened.

It was a great weekend! We can't wait to go back!!

One Month Old Today!

Well our little Lilabug is a month old today! My, how quickly a month can pass! We went to the doctor for a weight check among other things, and she'd gained 2 pounds since our last visit, weighing in at a 9 lbs and 11 oz.
To let you in on her little personality...
Things that she likes:
1. Her changing table. Odd, I know. She can be absolutely pitching a fit and the second you set her down on it, she's calm.
2. To be held. I think we might be spoiling her a little on this.
3. To be awake between the hours of 12:00 am and 4:00 am.
(This is not a like for mommy and daddy, by the way.)
4. Her bath in her bathtub.
5. Swinging in her swing.
6. And she loves to eat!
Her only real dislike is having lotion put on after nighttime bath. And contrary to the picture below, she doesn't really like pacifiers. This was just a rare moment when she took it.
All in all, isn't she just precious?? ;-)

Baby's Day Out

Yesterday we took advantage of the really nice afternoon and FINALLY got Lila out of the house for a little bit. She did super well -- slept the whole time, and those two hours out did wonders for my cabin fever. We went and grabbed some lunch, and then shopped around a little bit. A very enjoyable family outing to say the least :)

Tagged!

Well, Erin so thoughtfully tagged this new mother of 2 weeks. :) I have a list, but let's face it - it's not that creative. I haven't strung together 5 complete thoughts in days I feel. But let's just remember that a 2 week old equals not much sleep at all!!
So, here are my ten honest things ...

1. I am the world's worst worry wart. I worry about EVERYTHING! I am constantly having to tell myself to let it go and have some faith. As a new mom, this is something that I know I will struggle with even more. I'm working on it though!

2. I am always late or running late. 99% of the time I barely make it to where I'm going on time. Josh commented the other day that he didn't see how I wasn't the tardiest person at my high school. I hardly go anywhere where I'm more than a minute early. Sigh ... I'm working on this too :)

3. My biggest bad habit is biting my fingernails. I am forever stopping and then starting again. I decided when I was pregnant that a mama shouldn't have gnawed off nails so I stopped. I had pretty nails for awhile! Then the closer I got to my due date the more nervous I got -- you should have seen my nails the night I delievered. I am currently back on the no-biting bandwagon.

4. I have tons of gray hair. I hate it. I color it as frequently as I can afford to. I'm too young for gray hair -- enough said.

5. I love to shop ... I come by it honest. My mom and I shopped a lot growing up, and every time I go home to visit, I guarantee we end up on a shopping trip. I very rarely buy something if it's not on sale -- I think that makes me feel like I can buy a few more items. Josh just laughs at me when I rationalize my spending with the phrase -- I saved you money because it was all on sale!

6. I tend to be a procrastinator. This is particularly the case when I was in college. I procrastinated on papers, studying for tests, etc. I'm a little better now -- though it did take close to 10 months AFTER I got married to get out the rest of those thank you notes.

7. I love, love, love to read. I can read a good, big book in a day usually (if I have nothing else to do that day). I'm afraid that this little hobby will be on the back-burner for awhile, but I do really enjoy it.

8. I love playing on the computer. I check email, snoop on facebook, and read blogs daily. I consider it my little escape.

9. I am often homesick. I miss my parents and sister like CRAZY! Erin told me it'd get worse once I had Lila, and boy was she right. I enjoy living in Opelika, the family and friends I have here are terrific -- honestly -- but it'd be a lot better if my family were closer (or here :)!

10. I love my husband and daughter more than I can describe! I am really blessed to be married to my best friend. He works so hard -- both at home and at work. He's a great dad -- One of my truly favorite things is watching him with Lila. And Lila -- what a sweet and precious child! I could just eat her up!

So there you have it-- 10 not-so-creative honest things about me. I don't have an extensive blog list, so I'll tag Robin and Natalie. Have a good Sunday! :)
