The Bulldogs Rock the House!

The girls participated in a cheer camp this morning that was put on by the Opelika High School cheerleaders. I tried to get a few pictures this morning ... as you can see Clare is so cooperative. Finally, got a good one though!
They were a little hesitant at first about being left, but they found their buddies and were just fine. By the time we came back to watch their performance, it was clear that they had so much fun. I'm so proud that they participated and had such a blast. We've been listening to Opelika cheers all afternoon!!
 Check out their performances!!

Fun Excursion

Yesterday, we were looking for something fun and different to do. It was a gorgeous day, and I suggested that we head up to Pine Mountain, GA and do a little exploring. On the way, we decided to visit The Little White House, which was home to FDR during the 30s and 40s. I had been once when I was younger, but Josh had never been. I thought that both girls were probably too young, but Lila seemed really intrigued by all the artifacts and pictures that they had on display. We ended up really enjoying our day!!

The Girls' Extracurricular Activities

School is back in swing and that means extracurricular activities are too. Lila has chosen gymnastics. This is her second year, and she was able to move up to Level II. She still looks so little in that class, but she's holding her own and keeping up great. I'm thankful she gets to participate in something she loves.
Clare Anne has chosen ballet this year. I'll admit -- I wasn't so sure that ballet and Clare's personality went hand in hand. She was so excited though, and that excitement was infectious. She walked right into that class and owned it. She said that she had so much fun, and her teacher said she obeyed, listened, and participated. I was very proud of this little ballerina.
In her little class, waiting on it to start.

First Day of School

Today was a big milestone for my sweet Lila. She started Kindergarten at Southview Primary. I have to admit...I knew it was going to be hard, but I'm not quite sure I realized how difficult it would be! I managed to hold my tears until I rounded the corner while I was leaving her, and then they just kind of came and wouldn't stop! I had people telling me right and left walking out of the school that she'd be fine, I'd be fine, or that they'd been there and done that! Her teacher is Mrs. Ryals, and I swear that woman might be a God-send. Lila adored her first day and was asking when she got to go back. She made it to Star Student today, and she was really proud. I was too -- her teacher's comments were that she had followed directions well, done amazing work, and that she was a leader. Yay!! So now that I've cried and gotten the first day out of the way, we can now concentrate on having a great school year!!
Her shirt that Sissy made, which she'll wear every first day till her senior year. Yikes!!
Daddy walking his girl into school. Don't let him fool you ... he shed a few tears himself today!
Walking into her classroom and getting situated.
Lila and her sweet friend Emory.
Lila super excited and loving Mrs. Ryals!!
In other news, Clare has gone to Sissy's for two days (because Grammy and Papa were here taking care of them). Both days, Sissy has said that she's done wonderfully. I couldn't be more proud of my high-spirited little lady. My class also seems to be really sweet, and I can feel a good year coming on!!

Lila Meets her KINDERGARTEN Teacher

We headed over to Southview this afternoon to meet Lila's Kindergarten teacher. I think it eased a bit of Lila's nerves, as well as my own. I think she's officially ready to start on Thursday! I know she's going to love it!!

Wright Family Reunion

We were able to travel to Boaz this past weekend for the 105th Wright Family Reunion. It was so good to see family that we just don't get to see very often and introduce the girls to them as well. We really, really enjoyed visiting ... it was a fast afternoon!
